The Large Butterfly Bomb is truly an image to behold.

The finished piece is 80” x 80” and is created with a mix

of fashion fabrics and Hermès silk scarves. 

It begins with the quilted background. There are three

diffe ent types of fashion fabrics used and, when the

400 diffe ent quilt blocks are stitced together, they form

a traditional Ohio Star quilt pattern.

The fragmented butterfly was created using Hermès

scarves with explosive color. Each element of the wings

and grenade are mounted on a 3D armature. When

viewed from an angle, all of the elements that form the

wings are individually mounted at different heights to

capture a dimensionality effect
