I was a big fan of Joe Strummer from the Clash, they were one of my favorite bands growing up and they were the main reason that I started to listen to punk rock. After the Clash broke up in 1984 Joe Strummer has a very long solo career as both a composer and musician. Joe Strummer and the Mescalero’s was a band that was around from the late 90’s until his untimely death at age 50 in 2003. Like the Clash, the Mescaleros are a mix of different genres of music mixed together to form something new. Rock Art and the X-Ray Style was the debut album from the Mescaleros and it is bright pink with what resemble cave paintings in bright colors decorating the album. I wanted this cover to really pop so I started by stitching an Avant-garde geometric design as the background using bright pink yarn. The design resembles crop circles spinning out of geometric backgrounds. The figures were then stitched in geometric thread over the background along with band's logo.

The albums take up to 8 hours to embroider and can contain over 200,000 stitches. The series is created and designed to be hung together so you can add to your installation wall as you discover new pieces I create. Each of the albums comes with a signed certificate and is framed in acrylic and measures 12" x 12" x 2".
