Temple of the Dog was an album that featured both Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam as well as the late Chris Cornell of Soundgarden. The album was made as a tribute to the singer of Mother Love Bone, another Seattle singer who had died of a heroin overdose. In addition to the singers, the band also featured members of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. This was the only album that they created and it was recorded in 15 days, produced by the band themselves and released in 1991 to very low sales of only 70,000 copies. The album took off over a year later when both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden entered the main stream and grunge rock from Seattle took over the airwaves. The album went on to sell over 1,000,000 copies and I think is a must listen for any music fan. The music is different than either Pearl Jam or Soundgarden, it's a special album created by friends for a friend they had lost. Now, onto my vision for the album. The graphics feature an over exposed photo in the center surrounded by text over a multi hued background and lettering that looks shaped out of play-doh. I started by using abstract free hand stitches over the background in multiple colors to act as a base and provide shading. I then added abstract white yarn over the photograph and created the lettering out of multiple colors of purple yarn. The thread on the album creates different depths and textures which I think perfectly represent the band.

The albums take up to 8 hours to embroider and can contain over 200,000 stitches. The series is created and designed to be hung together so you can add to your installation wall as you discover new pieces I create. Each of the albums comes with a signed certificate and is framed in acrylic and measures 12" x 12" x 2".
