I hand-selected each album then set out to embroider them. To make the art, each thread must be hand-digitized using digital drawing tools on a scan of the actual album as a backdrop. Every stitch is drawn by hand, one at a time. The embroidery process itself is the most interesting and has to be seen to believe. When I found this Arctic Monkeys album in the stacks at my local record shop I knew I had to do something with it. How can I not? A plain background with the words Suck it and See in a bold typeface on the cover. I decided to create a tonal background in yarn thread. I added the bands logo to the background and then stitched the entire piece in one color of yarn. The different directions of the yarn give the logo its shape the the voided areas of the design were created using geometric shapes. The logo was added as a patch. I love this album cover because when viewed from a distance you simply see a tan background but as you move closer the logo takes shape, closer still and you see that it was created with yarn.

The series is created and designed to be hung together so you can add to your installation wall as you discover new pieces I create.
