This is an album that I have had since I was a kid but never really studied the artwork on the cover until now. To me, this is the most exciting part about the album series, the chance to re-explore all of these vintage covers and then re-imagine them using my embroidery and collage techniques. The Beatles Revolver features intricate line work that instantly reminds me of 1960’s pop art. The artwork was designed by Klaus Voorman, his twilight zone sketches accompanied the LSD-induced songs that the Beatles partook in. As you look closer at the 4 faces you will see dozens of smaller images and photos in the background, these images were contributed by the four memebers. I decided to embroider this using traditional line work stitched right on top of the original image. The thread gives the hair and facial features a new dimension. There are over 75,000 individually placed stitches on this album cover.
