El Camino was my first commission in the album series, I created it as a special request because it was my collectors husbands favorite album. I had listened to the album for years, essentially as a download so I never gave the visuals of the album much thought. Once I received the album I noticed a few things, the first was how the album folded out and also included a foldout poster of mini vans. The second thing I noticed was that the album is titles El Camino and features a mini van on the cover. Either way I was excited to begin the project. Since the album cover is a photograph I started by stitching the background of the photograph in free motion embroidery stitches using rayon thread. There are over 50 thread colors in the background to embellish the details in the photo. The minivan Was then created as a realistic patch. i pain careful attention to the glass windows. I used varying density’s in the thread for the windows so that you would be able to see the details behind the windows. The lettering was also created as individual patches. The patched were all collaged onto the album last.
