The early Eagles albums all featured iconic southwestern imagery and One of the Nights is no exception. It features an embellished steer skull over a stormy grey background with the bands logo floating above it. This is one of a series of 4 Eagles covers I created for a collector and this was the most challenging of the quartet. I started by embroidering the background in a maelstrom of free motion threads in shades of black, grey and navy. I then stitched the wings as well in shadowy browns. The background alone has over 50,000 stitches in it. The elaborate skull as well as the logo were created as patches due to the detail and then hand cut and collaged onto the album cover.
