The skull itself is created by layering, appliquéing an embroidering Hèrmes scarves. The scarves are all outlined in metallic gold thread. The horns are created as separate elements and then wrapped in ribbon, cording and authentic turquoise beading. Drawing inspiration from the striking steer skulls I've encountered on my journeys through the Southwest, I've crafted the El Dorado piece to capture their captivating essence. My admiration for these iconic embellishments sparked the desire to create something truly unique for the Studio.
The backdrop of this piece is a vibrant canvas made from upcycled embroidered shopping bags, giving it both character and sustainability. The skull features a mesmerizing geometric pattern achieved through the intricate layering of embroidery, while the horns emerge as standalone elements, elegantly wrapped in rich ribbons, cording, and genuine turquoise beads.
